About me
Kristen A. Williams, MD, is an obstetrician-gynecologist at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center. She is a Junior Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and a member of the American Medical Association.
Dr. Williams sees women throughout their lifetime, from late adolescence to menopause. She treats and diagnoses common female reproductive disorders (such as abnormal uterine bleeding, ovarian cysts, and sexually transmitted infections), manages pregnancies, and performs gynecological wellness checkups. A strong advocate of comprehensive contraceptive care for consenting adults, she provides complex contraception, including tubal ligations. In addition, she performs some minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries such as hysterectomies and ovarian cyst removals.
Dr. Williams is known for creating a safe, inclusive, and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable sharing sensitive health information. She is passionate about decreasing the health equity gap, especially among young Black and brown patients.
Dr. Williams obtained her medical degree from Meharry Medical College, where she graduated with honors and was nominated for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society. She then completed her training at the combined MedStar Washington Hospital Center/Georgetown University Hospital OB/GYN residency program.
Her medical school research was recognized with the Medical Student Research Award in Social Science from the Wilbert C. Jordan Research Forum at the American Medical Education Conference.
Before pursuing a medical career, Dr. Williams studied technical theater as an undergraduate; she still enjoys seeing Broadway shows each year. She loves knitting and crocheting and is an avid reader of nonfiction, fantasy, and romance novels.
